Brain-child of Craig and Ayako Muir, Oken Studio is an art and concept furniture design shop in located in Roxborough, Philadelphia. 

Craig’s passion for wood-working stems from growing up in a family full of builders and engineers and also being a young guitarist, which led him to begin making and repairing guitars. Eventually, he joined Hog Eat Hog Woodshop in Florida as a builder.

Ayako has always been into making things. She attended Temple University for Architecture and Environmental Studies, and working in architectural design-build, graphic design, city-planning and landscape design - making through various scales and size.

Craig and Ayako met at Balance Studios during a sparring session. They soon realized that, along with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, they share a passion for design and building. They live in South Philadelphia with their son Ren and have been creating furniture together in the basement of their row home since 2017.
